Service Description

This course is intended for youths 11 years of age and older who want to look after infants and young children. Participants will learn basic skills which will prepare them to deal with emergency situations plus general principles of caring for infants and young children The Babysitting Basics Course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be a safe and responsible babysitter. This course covers topics such as child care, safety, first aid, and basic life support. Participants will also learn about age-appropriate activities, child behavior management, and communication with parents. Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to provide a safe and secure environment for children, identify and respond to emergency situations, perform basic first aid and basic life support techniques, develop age-appropriate activities for children, understand child behavior management, and communicate effectively with parents. The Babysitting Basics Course provides participants with practical, hands-on training and a course manual to help reinforce the knowledge and skills they have learned during the course. This course is ideal for individuals who want to learn how to be a safe and responsible babysitter. It is also suitable for individuals who are interested in childcare as a profession, such as daycare providers or teachers. Certification: This course is certified by St. John's Ambulance and meets the standards of the Canadian Red Cross. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Babysitting Basics certification card, valid for two years. The Babysitting Basics Course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be a safe and responsible babysitter. With certification from St. John's Ambulance and meeting the standards of the Canadian Red Cross, this course is suitable for individuals who want to learn how to be a safe and responsible babysitter, as well as individuals who are interested in childcare as a profession.
